Rejection...again...

Dear Celia,

Thank you for your recent query letter and your interest in BLAH Agency. We are always eager to hear from writers who are serious about the business of writing; unfortunately, we do not feel that PMA is the right company to represent your work.

We have to be very selective of what we choose to represent, and all of our decisions are based on a frank assessment of the current needs of the literary and film markets. The fact that this work doesn’t fit our narrow criteria for representation does not mean it couldn’t find a home elsewhere. We urge you to submit your work to other agencies or management companies that may be more suited to this type of material.

Kind Regards,

Agent K

Rejection....

Thank you for your query. I didn’t make the connection with your letter that I would need to request sample material, but please keep in mind that another agent may feel differently. I wish you the best of luck in placing your work.

Sincerely,
Agent D

Rejection...

Thank you for your submission to Whoohoo Literary.

I'm afraid your work is not the right fit for us at this time, and we encourage you to continue editing and querying other agencies.

Thanks again,

This One Read The Manuscript!

Dear Author,

Thanks so much for letting us take a look at your materials, and please forgive me for responding with a form letter. The volume of submissions we receive, however, makes it impossible to correspond with everyone personally.

Unfortunately, the project you describe does not suit our list at this time. We wish you the best of luck in finding an agent and publisher for your work, and we thank you, once again, for letting us consider your materials.

Sincerely,
Bleep and Blorp Literary Agency

Rejection #12: 18 December 2008

Dear Author,
We apologize for the necessity of having to send a form letter to you. The number of submissions received by the agency is very large, so it is not possible to write a personal response to each query letter we receive. Rather than hold you back in your search for the best representation for your book, we think it is better to let you know quickly that we’re not the right agency for your work. We wish you luck in finding a good home for your book.
Sincerely,
Agent Y

Dear Author,
Many thanks for your recent submission. We look forward to reading your query. Please note that we will contact you again only if we are interested in seeing more of your work. We apologize that, due to the volume of mail we receive, we are not able to respond to you more personally.
We wish you the best of luck and thank you for allowing us to consider your work.

Rejection #1: 9 December 2008

Thank you so much for sending the (Blah Blah) Literary Agency your query.

We’d like to apologize for the impersonal nature of this standard rejection letter. Rest assured that we do read every query letter carefully and, unfortunately, this project is not right for us.

Because this business is so subjective and opinions vary widely, we recommend that you pursue other agents. After all, it just takes one "yes" to find the right match.

Good luck with all your publishing endeavors.

Sincerely,

Agent 1
